They scrapped through with a win against Rogue and are now facing Gen.G Esports, which somehow struggled in their own Group. Although Gen.G Esports is one of the South Korean powerhouse, they were somewhat inconsistent throughout the Group Stages. After going into a four-way tiebreaker, Gen.G Esports eventually emerged having defeated Team Liquid and MAD Lions to qualify to the Quarterfinals.

DAMWON Gaming had a clean sweep so far and has swiftly won MAD Lions in their previous match. Everything has been going very smoothly and it seemed that DAMWON Gaming is unstoppable. However, T1 will be one key obstacle that DAMWON Gaming has to beat before having a closer glimpse of the Worlds Title.
